This is the place where the seed was first uncovered. Tubestation partners with The Methodist Church of England and Wales for its church meetings, although Tubestation itself  is specifically non-denominational and as inclusive as possible.

The group that meets is about as diverse and eclectic as you can get. Some are from traditional church backgrounds, others aren’t. Some have never been to church before. We’re basically a bunch of rag-tags and rough diamonds, iron sharpening iron, working out what it means to be a community of faith together in our generation, and having fun doing it.

The church community that meets every week is made up of about 40 or 50 regulars, all ages. This swells to maybe 250 people in the holidays when we have two meetings instead, to fit everyone in. And then sometimes in the depths of winter there might be only 20 people show up, which is okay too. As long as God shows up it doesn’t matter. It says in the Bible that where two or three are gathered together in His name, He is there in their midst. That means we can be church wherever we are, right through the week. But Sunday morning is special because we all get together.

So we spend time hanging out. There’s normally a chilled out band playing, and someone will speak, we learn together, pray for the tough things in the world and give thanks for all the good things, and there’s Kidstation downstairs so the young ones are well looked after in the boring bits. They get to watch movies, make things or play in the sunshine. Sometimes in the summer we’ll stay on into the afternoon with a barbeque on the top deck, watch a movie, people bring picnics, that kind of stuff.

Church meets at 10.00am every Sunday, and again at 11.15am in the holidays*. Everybody is welcome. Outside of the Sunday meeting, there are also small groups that meet either in homes or in the surf lounge.

For summer 2012 we’re starting a daily rhythm of prayer; every week day and saturdays at 9am, 12pm and 6pm for half an hour each time; in our prayer room downstairs. This is open to anybody to either pray or be prayed for. We also have a pen, a note pad and little beach hut in the toilet, with a slot in the top just big enough for people to put their prayer requests in. Our crew would love to pray for you.

Tubestation is also a partner of Christian Surfers UK. CSUK serves the UK Pro Surf Tour.

* when we think it’s going to be really busy, we hold two meetings. The first at 10.00am is all-age, a family meeting. The second at 11.15am for grown- ups and sleepy-heads with a more in-depth teaching and discussion.
