The Root

The root, that radical thing inside us (however buried) that feels right and good and true, when we stop for a minute and tune in. And we are learning that the seed seems to be about tapping that root so it pours into our lives making our time on this planet more fruitful and more enjoyable. Making our relationships more meaningful, our surf sessions more soulful, and putting the worries and strivings of our material lives ever more in perspective.

A surfer’s travels can teach us a lot. Sometimes a feral species, escaping from domestication and returning to a wild state can, in their non-native regions, have the effect of disrupting ecosystems and on occasion can lead to their own or others’ extinction. However, returning lost species to their native natural environment can have the opposite effect, contributing to biodiversity and bringing damaged ecosystems… back into balance.

Can we learn from this? The call of the wild, going feral, planting the seed in the earth.

The idea says that if the seed is planted in fertile soil and starts to grow, bear fruit and multiply, we can start to live in harmony with the whole shebang, we can take off our sunnies and start to see the world with eyes wide open, and the world around us really could become a better place.
