A beautiful way to start your Sunday, united with other UK churches.
Over the next 6 weeks we are going to be reading through Paul's letter to the Colossians together.
We love this letter, and we hope you find grace and peace whilst in lockdown, just as Paul did whilst in prison.

Colossians 2:6-2:23
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,  rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ,  having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.  And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:  “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”?  These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

The rule of love

Isaiah 41:10
“fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God.”
   But God;
When you don’t move the mountains, I’m needing you to move,
When you don’t part the waters, I wish I could walk through,
When you don’t give the answers, as I cry out to you.
I will trust,

These times are in your hands Lord, and I am filled with courage and confidence that you will lead us through these dark and challenging moments to even better days ahead.

So we pray with faith, trusting this week, that the peak of Covid 19 will be over,
that you will give comfort to the grieving, food to the hungry,   friendship to the lonely, peace to those in turmoil, Wisdom to our politicians,  skills to our doctors,  insight into vaccines,  and strength to those who feel weak just now.

And Lord please keep us close to you, increase our faith,  that out of these hard times, your kingdom will come.

Each week the preacher is going to recommend a podcast for you to listen to during the week.

Instead of a podcast this week spend 20 minutes each day outside with no distractions. go for a walk, sit in your garden, or sit in your lounge, but with no book, no music, no phone.
Just listen.

The Franciscan monks say that creation was the first Bible, the first thing that proclaimed God's glory.
