Storm Callum rides through
Polzeath was hit with high winds and high tides over the weekend, causing a little anxiety for local businesses as boats broke their moorings and lifeguard huts were shifted around by the mighty power of the sea. Following the stormy weekend we're now having a lovely calm week with big clean surf! It was a good call to postpone the Jesus Longboard Classic, which is now taking place 24th / 25th November, but we maintained business as usual through the weekend, including a great Sunday Session which brought some stunning depth as we shared breakfast and heard some moving personal stories about hearing from God in the everyday. Big thanks to Meg and Stevi for sharing so beautifully.
Sunday Session
Thanks to our reviewers
Opening yourself up to being judged is always a bit scary, especially when it's as public as Trip Advisor. Lots of our visitors just pass through, not realising fully what the Tubestation is. And that's part of the beauty of it, that people are able to dip in and out on their own terms and go as deep (or as shallow) as they like!
The challenge for us is to bless and impress as much in all the little details, like making sure the scones are fresh and the toilets are nice; as much as we do in the wider community-focused, sacred and spiritual things that we do, which are our real purpose. And it is a seriously tough challenge, representing what we do here and holding eveything in balance, one that we don't always get right. So when we do, it's lovely to see people show their appreciation publicly like they have this season...
A big WELL DONE to Abi and the team that work so hard to keep standards up.
Next week we'll have a look at what Google and Facebook reviewers have to say. And if you ever have any comments or suggestions for improvements we could make to our visitor experience, or you want to share your love of what we're doing just to bless us back, please come and tell us.
And if it's really good, put it online!
WCC Sea baptisms
It was so great to have our brothers and sisters from Wadebridge Christian Centre here last week for sea baptisms yeewww! The sun shone, and we got to hang out as a family on the beach and watch Donna, Sarah, Neil and Josh make a public declaration of their faith in Jesus. What a great day!
Christmas rehearsals underway
As a church, things can get pretty busy around Christmas time. This year we are linking in with the Polzeath Lights and lantern parade, planning another Nativity Surf Jam, as well as some other cool Christmas stuff. Kris is rehearsing with the lovely Harbottle and Jonas in preparation for a few festive sessions, making for some spontaneous wonder-filled moments.
This week's Sunday Session...
